Having a reduced frequency range, over decades the classic Auratone speaker became a handy tool allowing engineers to check how their mixes would translate on small radios, car stereos, TVs etc. Since it became almost impossible to get a decent pair anymore, we’re glad the company Avantone started to build them again (with a slightly more modern design).
We’ve been doing a lot of mixes lately that go directly on Youtube or become MP3s instead of CDs which means they also have to work well on mobile phones, laptops and other small speaker systems. Therefore, we got ourselves a pair of Mixcubes and can say hearing less is more since it shows you what you cannot hear on such small devices. Now it makes us work even harder to make your music sound great but in the end it’s going to sound much better everywhere. Hooray!
